Three Whole Weeks!

Beth-Renee is three weeks old today! Wow how time flies. I am loving this new season that Keith and I are experiencing as we begin the journey of raising children. Yes, children as in multiple kids. I still want more even after experiencing birth. I didn't at first. I told Keith we were adopting from here on out, but now that I'm not in pain anymore I have decided we will be having more of our own kids along with adopting. However, I plan on waiting a few years (like 4) until the next one.

I love my little peanut so much. I love all the facial expressions she makes and the grunts and squeals. I don't really enjoy the screaming at 3 in the morning, but that will end soon hopefully! I love seeing Keith as a dad. He is a natural! He loves cuddling with Beth-Renee, but after about 10 minutes she starts fussing cause she gets to hot. She has started to notice people more. She loves watching my face and playing with her tongue. Sometimes when I make faces at her she goes cross-eyed. I think the hardest thing right now is sleep training. I hate hearing her cry, but I know if I go in, pick her up,
and cuddle she will never be able to fall asleep on her own. So in my mind I continue to remind myself that it's ok if she cries. It's good for her development to cry. It's not going to hurt her to cry for a little bit. Of course I go in a check on her which makes it so hard to leave again! Does anyone have any advice for sleep training?

Beth-Renee, you are an answer to prayers. Ever since I was a little girl I have always dreamed of the day I would have a baby of my own. You are beautiful, fun, smart, and just like your daddy! It is so hard to wake you up to eat and keep you up. You love to cuddle all the time. You love listening to different types of music. You absolutely LOVE to have your little hands next to your face all the time. You always manage to wiggle out of your swaddle when you sleep. You are a gift from God. Your dad and I love you more than you could even imagine!

  1. Beth-Renee is too young to sleep train just yet....you can create good sleep habits though. Don't feel bad about picking her up! She's wee just yet. If you find she's becoming dependent or demanding cuddles to fall asleep and stay asleep, you can use a multitude of soothing techniques that will teach and empower her to fall asleep and stay asleep independently. (You probably don't remember me - but I was one of the many interns that babysat you!) I've been working as a doula for many years....so feel free to drop me a line if you want me to send you some info sheets on developing healthy sleep habits.
